P90X – day04

Hi,

phew I got a scare today, I thought I lost my iPhone today, and then how could I have taken pictures of my delicious meals? Glad that I found my iPhone just chilling at home. Also, big shout out to the Apple Store for replacing a battery in a 3 year old MacBook without having AppleCare, that’s 150 bucks of saving right there. Why thank you so much for being so awesome.

Talking about shoutouts, here is a shoutout to Justin, he was kind enough to photoshop me… O.o

Well then, let’s take a look at what I did today. Click on the thumbnails to get to my Flickr account and see them pictures in a higher resolution.

Nutrition:

breakfast:
1 multivitamin
1 creatine pill
1 soy sausage muffin
12 oz skim milk

how to prepare:
– 2 to 4 soy sausage patties, 1 to 2 whole wheat English muffins, 1-1/2 to 4 ounces fat free mozzarella
– cook soy sausage according to package instructions
– fix the ‘manwich’
soy sausage muffin: done

notes:
I didn’t have any soy patties as they were heaps expansive at our local store, so I just used the turkey bacon leftovers, I had 4 strips on 2 muffins, and i use 1 oz of mozzarella and 1 oz of cheddar cheese. I also used 1 spoon of protein powder in my milk, to this date I can not drink ‘white’ milk on its own. It makes me gag.

snack:
1 protein bar
notes:
since i don’t have protein bars I substitute it with 1 granola bar and an apple.

lunch:
1 steak & arugula salad
2 tbsp balsamic vinaigrette

how to prepare:
– 8 ounces top sirloin, 3 cups arugula, 1/2 pint cherry tomatoes, 3/4 cup canned artichoke hearts, 3 tbsp balsamic vinaigrette
– grill chicken
– toss ingredients
– add vinaigrette
steak & arugula salad: done

notes:
we didn’t have arugula salad so we just used green leaf lettuce, used regular tomato, instead of the artichoke used 1 cup celery, used a low calorie balsamic vinaigrette, in addition I also added some ham since I didnt quite have 8 ounces of sirloin, turns out meats lose most of their weight during the cooking process. Food tasted as brilliant as ever.

snack:
2 oz turkey jerky

notes:
Really, turkey jerky, that’s a bti exotic. Price Choppers doesn’t carry that, they dont even carry arugula salad or soy nuts, sigh. So instead I made a regular milk shake, milk with a scoop of protein powder.

dinner:
8 oz chicken
3 tbsp honey chile sauce
1 cup quinoa
1 cup snap peas

how to prepare:
– invest in a decent chile sauce
honey chile sauce: done

notes:
Of course Price Choppers does not carry neither quinoa nor snap peas, so I substituted one with the wild rice and the other with edamame and regular peas.

Post workout:
Recovery drink

Before going to bed:
1 multivitamin
1 creatine pill

Workout:

Day 04 means it’s yoga x. For this workout the only thing you need is a yoga mat and an open mind. Again quality is more important than quantity.

There are no sets, there are no repeats, just follow Tony’s instructions and have fun, and by fun I mean as fun as a colonoscopy, no really for the first 3 or 4 times yoga x can be the most discouraging exercises in the entire p90x series. You tumble all over the place, you get discouraged because you are not flexible, you don’t have the stamina to hold the poses. Whatever, do your best and forget the rest. Improvement will come over time.  Here is a list of the excersises in proper order:

Yoga X is by far one of the most important aspects of P90X, for me, strength means nothing without control and flexibility. And if you think this is easy to do, I dare you to do this without sweating at least a bucket full.

Oh and yoga belly 7 sounds cute but it isn’t your abs will be on fire, weeeeeeeeeee. Yoga X is the longest of all the workouts clocking in at an amazing 1 hour and 32 minutes but it’s worth it. Time for your well deserved recovery drink and a nice cold shower.
